About the Role

LifeFlight is a world leading aeromedical retrieval service with a core purpose to save lives and serve the community. 

This full-time position is responsible for developing and conducting Aircrew Officer (ACO), Rescue Crew Officer (RCO) and MTS Training and Checking for LifeFlight’s Queensland bases.

Predominantly based at our Training Academy at Brisbane Airport, you will be required to cover leave across all operating bases, as well as short notice commercial opportunities, so flexibility to travel is essential.

About You

Along with your significant experience as a Line Aircrew Officer and Training and Checking ACO, you will bring a passion and dedication for training and continuous improvement.  Other skills will include:

  • A minimum of 1000 hours – Rotary wing ACO / Winch operator
  • Front Left Hand Seat operations with an above average knowledge of IFR operations
  • Training and Checking with experience in the civilian SAR/EMS industry
  • Extensive experience in all facets of winching operations (Day / Night / Water / Vessel)
  • Completion of an AVI40119 or AVI40116 Certificate IV in Aviation (Aircrew Officer)
  • Hold a CASA Class 2 or Class 2 Basic Medical certificate
  • Ability to pass the LFA WO Functionality Assessment
  • Demonstrated understanding of and competency with CRM, Risk Managment and Safety Management Systems
  • HUET/EBS qualified and current
  • Current First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation / CPR Certificates
  • Flexibility and adaptability to cover leave across our Queensland bases
  • Strong time management; professional attitude; attention to detail
  • Innovate and engaged in developing people to be the best
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the capacity to relate effectively across all business unit
  • Demonstrated understanding of and competency with CRM, Risk Managment and Safety Management Systems

Additionally, the following certifications / experience would be considered highly desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Operational knowledge of the CAT Simulator
  • Experience in FLIR operation
  • RCO/Rescue Swimmer experience
  • AW139 / Bell 412/BK117 experience
