About the Role

LifeFlight is a world leading aeromedical retrieval service with a core purpose to save lives and serve the community. We are seeking a talented and dynamic Senior Media & Communications Advisor to join our Marcoms team.

 

As the Senior Media & Communications Advisor at LifeFlight, you will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate communication and media strategies and delivering high quality communications and content for stakeholders and media outlets. The role oversees media projects and supports the General Manager Media & Communications.

 

You will work with a talented Marcoms team in a fantastic CBD location. Your hours will be split from head office in an incredible heritage building close to the Brisbane River and the opportunity to work from home up to 2 days per week. No day is the same - whether it’s working on helicopter rescue mission-related media, using your news sense to collaborate with our videographers on rich digital content, or developing media strategies to ensure LifeFlight’s reputation and credibility in the aeromedical sector is showcased.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement media and communication strategies and plans to support and achieve the strategic priorities of LifeFlight.
  • Develop and manage corporate communications with a focus on deadlines, precision, and quality. This includes crafting high-quality content, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness in all communications to various stakeholders.
  • Research, write, and distribute media releases and respond to media enquiries and the development of a range of content suitable for a range of media platforms, including media responses, media releases, speeches, media plans and talking points.
  • Pitch features to general media, industry magazines, internal publications etc.
  • Identify and develop media opportunities that advance LifeFlight’s strategic, commercial, and government relations objectives, including proactive liaison with journalists and newsrooms.
  • Manage effective media relations campaigns (proactive and reactive) to promote all LifeFlight-related ventures to a variety of media outlets.
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage reputation/brand risks. Pro-actively direct strategies and participate in the management and dissemination of crisis communications. In conjunction with General Manager Media & Communications, implement LifeFlight crisis communications, including preparedness plans and spokesperson readiness.
  • Provide statistical reports and required report deliverables for LifeFlight, sponsors and/or stakeholders. Take the lead in organising and supervising mission and media monitoring analytics/results as required.
  • Direct, manage and provide editorial feedback for other Media Team members.

 

About You:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a Media and/or Communications role.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into communication goals, actions and activities.
  • Strong experience in managing media, communications, and community relations in a complex environment.
  • Relationships with Business, Government, Medical or Aviation media advantageous, as is previous TV or print newsroom experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality communications and content for stakeholders and media.
  • Exceptional copywriting and media release writing skills.
  • Management experience and a willingness to mentor peers and team members.
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines, under pressure.
  • Adaptability to evolving situations. 
  • Willing to work in a 24x7 operation. You will work within the on-call media team roster, requiring after hours and weekend work.
  • Relationships with Business, Government, Medical or Aviation media advantageous.

Salary Packaging Options: As an employee of LifeFlight, you have the opportunity to benefit from salary packaging, allowing you to allocate up to $15,900 per Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year towards general living expenses. This includes covering various everyday costs like groceries, petrol, mortgage, rent, and school fees, providing you with added financial flexibility and support.
